We're underway at St Mary's Stadium.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Southampton and West Brom at St Mary's Stadium.
Southampton are in dire need of a victory this evening after winning only one of their last six matches. They displayed resilience to draw against Newcastle last week, rallying twice from deficits. However, they couldn't force the issue late in the contest to claim the three points.
After winning their opening two matches of the season, West Brom have also gone six matches without a victory. Tony Pulis' men were on course to defeat Leicester on Monday night after Nacer Chadli fired them ahead, but Riyad Mahrez's late strike denied the Baggies the victory.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
West Brom subs: Nyom, Yacob, Phillips, Brunt, Myhill, McClean, McAuley.
Southampton have named an unchanged team from their draw against Newcastle last time out. Manolo Gabbiadini leads the line, supported by Dusan Tadic, Shane Long and Steven Davis in behind. It's a flexible formation for Pellegrino with the ability to drop Davis deeper if need be and push Tadic and Long further wide.
Pulis has made one change to his side that drew against Leicester. Ben Foster returns between the sticks after recovering from his knee injury that sidelined him on Monday. Salomon Rondon continues to lead the line, with Jay Rodriguez - returning to his former club - and Chadli in support on the flanks.
FLASHBACK! West Brom won this fixture last season 2-1 rallying from behind to win the contest. Shane Long put the Saints ahead, but Matt Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu found the net to secure the three points for the Baggies.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 0-0 WEST BROM
It's goalless at the break between Southampton and West Brom. The Saints have had the better of the openings, but have not been able to conjure the breakthrough. Ryan Bertrand's deflected free-kick was the closest effort as his strike rattled the post. Maya Yoshida forced a good save from Ben Foster, while Shane Long fired wide from close range. The home side have lacked a clinical edge in the final third. West Brom are sitting deep and allowing Mauricio Pellegrino's men to come on to them, which has been working for the Baggies thus far.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: SOUTHAMPTON 1-0 WEST BROM
Southampton end a run of six matches without a win with a vital victory over West Brom this evening. The game was looking like a damp squib, heading towards a goalless draw. However, Sofiane Boufal scored one of the goals of the season thus far with an amazing run through the West Brom defence before curling an effort into the bottom corner. The result lifts the tension at St Mary's Stadium and puts the pressure on the Baggies and Tony Pulis, who are without a win in seven matches.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
